Homeschooling doesn’t have to be expensive! It’s possible to homeschool your children without spending a lot of money. The largest homeschooling cost is the curriculum. This is why free homeschool curriculum and resources are a must for any homeschool family working on a budget.

I have put together a list of our favorite, totally free, resources.

• Easy Peasy All-In-One Homeschool – Online Christian homeschool curriculum.

• EDSITEment – A partnership between the National Endowment for the Humanities and the National Trust for the Humanities that offers free resources for teachers, students, and parents searching for high-quality humanities education materials.

• Khan Academy – Interactive online lessons for all ages, with an emphasis on math and science.

• Mensa For Kids – Learning units on a variety of topics that are designed to meet the needs of gifted children for extension beyond the standard curriculum.

• PBS Learning Media – Curriculum-aligned videos, interactives, lesson plans, and more.

• PBS Kids – Educational games and videos from PBS Kids shows.

• PBS Kids YouTube Channel – Videos, educational games, and podcasts.

• Smithsonian Learning Lab – Digital resources from across the Smithsonian’s museums, research centers, libraries, archives, and more.

• Dad’s Worksheets – Math worksheets, calculators, and more.

• Science Bob – Experiments and simple project ideas to get your kids thinking.

• The Science Spot – Middle school science resources.

• Digital History – Bring the past to life through technology by providing news articles, music, art, and more for specific time periods and events in United States history.

• Art for Kids Hub YouTube Channel – Kids can follow along and draw their favorite characters and animals.

• Bob Ross, The Joy of Painting YouTube Channel – The well-known artist, teaching painting for middle school and up.

• EdX – A nonprofit created by Harvard and MIT, this site offers hundreds of courses related to computer science and technology. The courses are free to audit. Certificates of completion are also available for a fee.

• HippoCampus.org – Offers Algebra, American Government, Biology, Calculus, Environmental Science, Physics, Psychology, World Religions, and US History.

• CK-12 – Has a lot of great educational resources.

• National Geographic Kids – Covers topics in science, social studies, animals, and cultures. The website includes games, videos, activities, and maps.

• Dad, how do I? – YouTube Channel – He teaches life skills including auto maintenance, basic home repair and maintenance, using tools, how to tie a tie, shaving, ironing a dress shirt, and much more.

• DuoLingo – Learn a new language – Practice speaking, reading, listening, and writing with quick, bite-sized lessons.

• iCivics.org – Educational games and lesson plans to promote civics education and encourage students to become active citizens.

• Discovery K12 – Offers a traditional curriculum built on open-source technologies. The main subject areas and many electives are included. Student accounts are free. There is a fee for the optional parent account.

• Openlibrary.org – Online digital library that provides access to digitized books, audio, moving images, software, and archived web pages.

• Hoffman Academy – Piano/Keyboard Lessons – Mr. Hoffman is great at teaching anyone how to play the piano or keyboard. Kids will love him, and he makes it easy to learn.

• Justinguitar – Another great teacher who is great with kids and teaching them to play the guitar.
